Really interesting. I’m actively considering working in Indonesia for a few years. I’ve lived and worked in China for a while and would like to experience how it is to live in Indonesia. As you pointed out here, it’s mind-boggling how little attention Indonesia receives given that it is has the fourth-largest economy, sits at the crossroads of the Pacific and Indian oceans, and is the largest Muslim-majority country in the world.
I look forward to reading more of your work on this newsletter.
Just returned from a couple of weeks in Indonesia and in my conversations with dozens of local people to assess the investment climate its clear they are in the mood for change of the older systems that still predominate. You are right that it is possible to go to many parts of Jakarta without hearing non-Indonesian languages. Looking forward to your analyses.
I'm Indonesian and looking forward to your writings!
Can't wait to read about the Indonesian Football Team
Take a read here, I just published it: https://indonesiainenglish.substack.com/p/2-indonesias-national-football-team
