In general, I’m quite critical of BRICS and not too thrilled about Indonesia joining the organization. However, given the massive changes happening in the U.S. now, it’s not surprising to see more and more countries wanting to join BRICS.
I don’t think the BRICS have yet proven themselves as more than a talking shop. However, the creation of new institutions is significant as it is true that the post WW2 institutions did not yet adjust in the ways they should have done. Also if nothing else the BRICS is a forum to bring together the non G7 nations.
